Give your children lofty ideals, and live them out yourselves. You are their first teachers.
– Eknath Easwaran
This week we're pleased to share with you a new resource from the Blue Mountain Center of Meditation: EaswaranAndChildren.org! This website is full of resources to help adults practicing Easwaran's eight-point program of passage meditation to share it with the children in their lives.
Whether you interact with children as a parent, neighbor, teacher, relative or friend, you'll find specific tips for your own practice as well as inspiration from other meditators.
Breaking the material down by point, the site offers pointed tips on the mantram, slowing down, and one-pointed attention. In addition to resources from Easwaran and other meditators, the site features stories from children who grew up with meditating parents, describing the positive impact it's had in their own lives.
For those of you interested in discussing these ideas and finding fellowship with other meditators, you might check out our online family program, starting on January 31, 2016.
We encourage all of you to visit EaswaranAndChildren.org and check out the material, regardless of how much time you might spend in the presence of children – we think a lot of the ideas are fun for adults too!
