2017: “Giving” Resolutions

Happy New Year! Traditionally, this is the time of year where we set resolutions or goals we want to accomplish in the calendar year. Here at Blog HQ, we did talk about resolutions, but then we came across this quote from Easwaran:

“Don’t ask always what you can get from life, but ask what you can give. Stand up to your full height and give freely to those around you – your time, your resources, your talents, your extra clothes or vegetables from your garden, whatever you have.   It doesn't matter whether the gift is simple or modest; what matters is that it be given freely, wholeheartedly, without any reservations, without even the left hand knowing what the right hand is doing. You are not wealthy simply because you have a lot, you are wealthy when you have given a lot away; and the more you give, the more you will have to give – not in money, but in the richness of your life.”
– Eknath Easwaran

We found this quote incredibly inspiring as we looked at the year ahead of us and so we made some “giving resolutions” and wanted to share this idea with the larger passage meditation community. We'd love to hear about your new years resolutions or goals in the comments below. What are you going to focus on in your eight-point practice? Are there any ways you'd like to use your practice to give to those around you?
